How Crucifixed was conceived

We are so excited for Saturday, August 11, 2018. However, before this year’s event could ever take place, a lot of work went into hosting Crucifixed 2018

When Stop 9 Youth Minister Josh Haught and I spoke in June of 2015, I pitched an idea to my friend that I didn’t expect to blossom into the event it became. I had always thought it would be so amazing to have a Youth Rally in Guernsey County that featured great singing, awesome messages, national Christian musical acts, and lots of fun. I didn’t know if it was something that could ever be done at The Living Word Outdoor Drama, but I prayed about it and by the end of the 2015 Living Word season, Crucifixed was born. My good friends from the National Touring act Shiloh agreed to participate in late summer and near the end of January 2016, I had signed Nine Lashes, one of the best touring Christian rock bands on the planet. I couldn’t believe that it was going to happen.

A lot of planning and hard work took place. I knew I wanted Pilate’s Court to be transformed into a stage, but wasn’t sure how it would happen. Thanks to Main Events Party & Event Rental, the company erected a giant tent and helped transform part of The Living Word’s set into a concert venue. But there was more than just having a stage, we needed a technician to run the show. Enter Mark Douglas of Mark Douglas LLC. He did an amazing job of working with Shiloh and Nine Lashes and he did a great job working with Ashes Remain and Random Hero at Crucifixed 2017. Outside of just running the show, we also had a lot of hungry people and we thank Theo’s Restaurant for catering the event, which ended up having around 150 guests in 2016 and over 200 guests in 2017. We can seat over 800 and we plan on doing just that with this event! We also thank Wally’s Pizza, Richard & Dee Carter, Dr. Joe & Maudi Fanti, Stop 9 Church of Christ, Bernie & Dana Mosley, Reg & Glo Martin, First United Methodist Church, The Garland Hotel, Microtel Inn & Suites, Speedy Print, Central Steak & Ale, Craig Martin, Kimbolton United Methodist Church, and four anonymous sponsors for their generous and loving support of Crucifixed! We also had a new sponsor – the Cambridge/Guernsey County Visitors and Convention Bureau – come on board in 2017 and have generously provided more for Crucifixed 2018.

This year, we are expecting attendance to increase as people were able to come and see the vision of event. Crucifixed 2018 is going to be awesome. Decyfer Down (Morehead, N.C.), who has opened for National Touring bands Breaking Benjamin, Alter Bridge and Puddle of Mudd, and Christian bands Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch, Disciple, Hawk Nelson and Pillar, will be here to headline the event. Random Hero (Denver, Colo.) will return for a second consecutive year and the opening act will be teenage sister trio Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh (Jacksonville, Fla.), who are gaining a massive following in a short amount of time. The Love Brothers (Cambridge, Ohio) will be back to lead song & praise. Youth Minster Josh Haught and former Zanesville Police Officer/current Pastor Mark Stoffer will return to lead powerful messages that everyone can apply to their daily lives. Heath A. Dawson will be back to represent his Spoken Word ministry (Heath A. Dawson – Spoken Word). Tickets are now on sale for Crucifixed 2018 – this year’s theme will be: Lost? … Find THE WAY! They are only $10.00 if you order them by August 1 and will get you into that night’s performance of The Living Word Outdoor Drama for FREE (you must attend Crucifixed to get the FREE ticket). Tickets will be $15.00 by August 10 and $20.00 at the door.

We pray everyone will attend Crucifixed 2018 and help make this one of the premier Christian events of the summer in Southeastern Ohio.
